[series] visiting an ancient #mitreo, a pre-Christian church to the Persian god #Mithrus worshipped in Roman times. The church is entirely hand-carved into the side of this tuff hillside in ancient #Sutri. This one was converted to a Christan church in medieval times and has been in continuous use as a place of worship since then.
