Got caught up in some nostalgia today when I came across this video from our “Tocca le Palle” tour with Italian guitar superstar @daniele_fiaschi. Here we’re in Lugagnano, Italy in our old 3-piece formation where I played drums and keybass.
This track really took me back. #vptour2015 was a tough one with us traveling all over Europe in a 15-year old beater van with no heat and me almost dying of pertussis. It’s in hard times that you find out how important good friends can be. During our travels and hardships we became a great team.
We didn’t know it at the time, but this was our last show with Daniele who went on to much bigger stages.
There’s something about the last show that’s so special. This is the point in the tour where everyone is most relaxed and playing for the sheer joy of playing, where everyone knows that this is the last time we’ll get to play together for a while. It’s like graduation day or your best friend’s wedding.
For me this will always be a special memory, not because the concert itself was so wonderful, but because of the two great people I got to share the stage with.
