Tonight was an incredibly special night, playing #ModernAge in its entirety with the Electrofonics (@ciancaguitar @matteo_patrone_ @andrea_colicchia) for a big enthusiastic audience under the stars at Castello di San Giusto in Trieste, Italy.

It was one year ago that we holed up in a farmhouse in Castiglion Fiorentino to record Modern Age. Tonight was the first time that the whole band has been back together onstage since November 2019. It felt great finally playing these songs that we recorded together last year.

Big thanks to @baganamusicagency @baganabdistrict @idolrecords @mothertonguerecords @csadams04 @koffeekat059 and everyone else who made Modern Age happen. A lot of gigs are insomma, but tonight felt like we all got to take a big victory lap and man, it felt amazing. #vptour2021

I’m a big believer in using low wattage amps in the studio. This #Fender Bassbreaker 007 is one of the coolest little amps I’ve recorded in years. Powered by a single EL84, and featuring a high gain preamp, bright switch, and a powerful 3 band tone control, its 7 watt output makes it an ideal recording amp for both bass and electric guitar. The 10″ Celestion offers surprisingly good bottom end. I haven’t had the chance to try it with an extension cabinet yet, but I’m sure it’ll only get better.

We used it on bass guitar and much of the electric guitar for the upcoming @vanessa_peters album #modernage and found it to be an outstanding sounding, versatile amp – so much so that the bass player bought one the day after the session! Every studio needs one of these. 10/10 solid recommendation.

Last November @vanessa_peters and the band were on #vptour2019 in Germany and had a few days off, so we decided to the use time to work on some demo material. I brought a mobile recording rig and we cut demos of a bunch of the material that will form the basis of the new album. We really liked the way this demo sounded and decided to cut a video of ourselves playing it. Tomorrow we’re premiering the video in an online watching party!
