#tbt that time @vanessa_peters and I made a little #Christmas record at home, art and all. Here’s Vanessa setting up the diorama for the album’s front cover. We shot it using this antique hope chest my great-grandfather made as the background, and the lights around the outside were little electric tea lights hiding under a frame of paint stirrers. To get the soft even glow we hung bright Christmas lights all around the perimeter. Vanessa made the little presents and the collage tree with tea lights in it. It took all day to get the shot but the effect was perfect.
That little record ended up being a big hit for Vanessa, and reminded me how much fun it is to make music at home with whatever was the least amount of gear possible. I grabbed a couple of mics from the studio and we recorded most everything into the little Audiobox on my Macbook. I love how honest and deliberately unfancy yet lovely it sounds, and looks. Super grateful to have made this one and glad we did it this way.
